LILO(Linux Loader)는 Linux용 부트로더로 loadlin이 [when?]보급된 이후 몇 년 동안 대부분의 Linux 배포판의 기본 부트로더였습니다.오늘날[when?] 많은 배포판이 GRUB를 기본 부트 로더로 사용하지만 LILO와 그 변형 ELILO는 여전히 널리 사용되고 있습니다.LILO의 추가 개발은 2015년 12월 Joachim Wiedorn의 잠재적 [2]개발자 요청에 따라 중단되었습니다.

EFI 기반 PC 하드웨어용으로 현재는[3] 고립된 ELILO 부트 로더가 [4]개발되었습니다.원래는 IA-64 시스템용 Hewlett-Packard에 의해 개발되었지만 나중에 EFI를 지원하는 표준 i386 및 amd64 하드웨어용으로도 개발되었습니다.
인텔 기반의 Apple Macintosh 하드웨어에서 실행되는 Linux 버전에서는 ELILO를 사용할 수 있습니다.[5]

This project is orphaned, Debian dropped it in 2014, and RH & SUSE stopped using this tree (and feeding back change) long before that so no longer interested in working on it.
