휴버트 짐머만(Hubert Zimmermann, 1941년 11월 15일 ~ 2012년 11월 9일)은 프랑스의 소프트웨어 엔지니어였으며 컴퓨터 네트워킹의 선구자였다.

전기

짐머만은 에콜 폴리테크니크와 에콜 국립 수페리우레 데 텔레커뮤니케이션에서 교육을 받았다.[1] 그의 경력은 1972년부터 1979년까지 Rocquencourt에 있는 Rocquencourt에 있는 국립 정보 연구소(Informatique et Automatique)에서 시작되었고, 그곳에서 그는 무엇이 분산 운영체제의 CorusOS 시리즈가 되었는지에 대한 연구를 이끌었다.[2] 그는 1972년부터 빈트 세프가 처음 회장을 맡은 국제 네트워킹 워킹 그룹에 참여했다.[3] 그는 1974년 인터넷 사용에 관한 논문인 "패킷 네트워크 상호 통신을 위한 프로토콜"[4]에서 밥 칸과 세르프에게 인정을 받았다. 1977년, 국제표준화기구가 오픈 시스템 상호접속 프로토콜을 개발하면서 국제표준화기구의 초기 멤버였다.[3]

1991년 짐머만은 「컴퓨터 네트워킹의 발전과 국제표준화의 진전에 관한 20년의 리더십」으로 SIGCOMM상을 수상하였다.[9]

2012년 11월 9일, 짐머만은 프랑스에서 사망했다.[10]
