Source Serif는 Adobe Systems용 Frank Grießhammer에 의해 만들어진 세리프 서체다.SIL Open Font License에 따라 배포된 Adobe의 세 번째 오픈 소스 글꼴 제품군이다.[2]

활자는 피에르 사이먼 포니어의 형태에서 영감을 받아 소스 산스 가문을 보완한 디자인이다.[3]직립형 스타일과 이탤릭체로 된 6개의 무게와 5개의 광학 크기로 이용할 수 있다.[4][5]200~900의 연속체중량으로 가변형 폰트로도 이용할 수 있다.[6]

"Source Serif Pro"라는 이름의 첫 번째 버전은 2014년에 출시되었다.버전 2.0은 2017년 출시돼 더 많은 라틴어, 키릴어, 그리스어에 대한 지원이 도입됐다.[4]2018년 버전 "2.007R-ro/1.007R-it"[7][8]에 라틴 이탤릭체가 추가되었다.2019년 버전 '3.000R'[9]에는 그리스어와 키릴 이탤릭체가 추가됐다.2021년, 새로운 출시로 광학 크기가 추가되었다; "Pro"라는 이름은 이 시점에서 삭제되었다.[5]
