2018년 3월 8일, 국제 여성의 날, 스페인 여성들은 성차별, 가정 폭력, 임금 격차 등을 규탄하기 위해 이날 파업에 돌입했다.[1]
설명
여성단체와 노동조합이 주축이 된 참가자들은 유급직장, 특히 교육분야에 가지 않고 종일 집안일이나 육아도 하지 않았으며 일부 단체들은 소비파업을 추가로 요구했다.[2] 노조는 전국에서 가장 인구가 많은 도시에서 대규모 시위가 벌어지는 등 500만 명의 여성이 파업에 참여한 것으로 추산하고 있다.[3]
이 조치는 매년 열리는 국제 여성 파업의 일환이었다.[4][5]
