ABS-CBN Convergence, Inc.(이전 명칭: 멀티미디어 전화, Inc.)는 미디어 재벌 ABS-CBN의 통신 자회사다. 2013년 11월 16일에 출시된 무선휴대전화 서비스 ABS-CBN모바일을, 2015년 2월 11일에 출시된 디지털 지상파 텔레비전 서비스 ABS-CBN TV 플러스를 운영하고 있다.

역사

2012년 1월 27일, 바이안 텔레커뮤니케이션(바얀텔)은 ABS-CBN과 자산매입계약을 체결하여 바이안텔의 무선 유선 서비스와 관련 자산을 후자에게 양도하였으며, 2월 1일 준공되었다. 인도는 통신회사의 필수 면허, 상호 접속 트렁크, 가입자 및 직원을 포함한다.[2] 이번 협약은 바이안텔이 글로브텔레콤에 회사 부채의 96.17%를 인수해 인수한 뒤 이뤄진다.[3] 이후 회사는 유지비가 많이 든다는 이유로 2014년 3월 10일 이 서비스를 종료한다고 국가전기통신위원회에 통보했다. ABS-C의 무선 유선 서비스 가입자는 서비스 종료 후 ABS-CBN 모바일로 이동했다.[4]

2013년 5월 28일 ABS-CBN은 글로브와 2013년 말까지 시작될 것으로 예상되는 새로운 모바일 전화 브랜드 ABS-CBN 모바일을 만들기 위한 네트워크 공유 계약을 체결했다. ABS-CBN 모바일은 글로브와 서버, 타워, 스위치를 공유하면서 자체 선불 및 후불 음성, SMS, 모바일 광대역 서비스를 만든다. 모기업 ABS-CBN은 자회사 ABS-CBN에 향후 2년간 통신서비스 구축 및 확대를 위해 20억~30억 원을 투입할 예정이다.[5]

The National Telecommunications Commission approved the deal on June 8, 2013.[6] The mobile service was supposed to launch in early September but it was postponed due to operational issues.[7] ABS-CBN Mobile was instead launched on November 16, 2013, for the benefit of the survivors of Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan).

With the National Telecommunications Commission issuing the implementing rules and regulations for the country's shift to digital television on December 18, 2014,[8] ABS-CBN Corporation officially launches ABS-CBN TVplus on February 11, 2015 by a ceremonial switch-on at the ABS-CBN Broadcasting Center.[9][10] It is a set-top box that uses the Japanese ISDB-T standard to detect digital terrestrial (free TV) signals with five specialty digital television channels.
