돔은 세로 델 아즈프레의 북서쪽에 위치해 있다.그것은 지름 1.5 킬로미터(0.93 mi)의 세 개의 로브로 구성되어 있다.돔의 옆구리는 가파르고 발판과 용암 덩어리가 발치에 놓여 있다.[1]
Cerro Chanka는 SiO2 함량이 66%이며, calc-alkaline에서 유래되었다.라바에는 안데스산 성분의 칼륨이 풍부한 다키티와 라임알리틱이 저장되어 있으며, 크리스탈이 풍부하다.[1]
