국토안보공로훈장은 국토안보부의 군사훈장으로 탁월한 공로를 인정받아 미군 장병에게 수여된다.현재 메달은 2003년 2월에 제정되었으며,[2] 2002년 3월 1일로 소급된다.
이는 미국 국방부의 국방유공훈장과 맞먹는다.
역사
이 훈장은 원래 1992년 12월 7일 조지 H. W. 부시 대통령이 서명한 행정명령 12824에 의해 교통 공로 훈장으로 제정되었습니다.2003년 2월 28일 조지 W. 부시 대통령은 행정명령 13286에 서명했습니다.이 행정명령 13286은 무엇보다도 이 상의 교통용 버전을 2002년 3월 1일로 소급하여 국토안보용 버전으로 대체했습니다.2011년 4월 5일, 버락 오바마 대통령은 행정명령 12824를 개정하여 수상 자격을 "해안경비대원"에서 "미국의 국군원"[3]으로 변경했습니다.

이 상은 명예훈장, 공로훈장, 해군십자훈장, 공군십자훈장, 해안경비대 십자훈장 뒤에, 해안경비대 구성원의 경우 국방공로훈장 및 다른 군대에서 받은 공로훈장 전에 수여된다.다른 모든 군복무자의 경우, 국토안보유공자훈장은 특정 복무 DSM 앞에 있지만 국방유공자훈장 뒤에 착용한다.이 메달은 미국 [1]국군의 누구에게나 수여될 수 있다.
