임형주(1986년 5월 7일생)는 대한민국의 오페라 팝(팝페라) 테너 겸 클래식 크로스오버 가수다.[1]국내 100만장(100만장)을 넘는 등 전 세계적으로 120만장 이상의 음반을 판매했고, 그의 총 디지털 노래와 싱글, 앨범(디지털 다운로드, 스트리밍, 벨소리 서비스 포함)은 1000만장 이상 팔렸다.[2]

인생과 경력

임형주는 1998년 12세의 나이로 첫 솔로 앨범을 발매했다.[3][4]2003년 17세의 나이에 팝페라 테너로 데뷔하였다.[5]그해 2월 25일 대한민국 제16대 대통령 취임식 날, 그는 대한민국 국가를 부른 최연소였다.[6]그의 연기는 해외에 방영된 상태였다.[7]또 임형주는 2003년 6월 뉴욕 카네기홀에서 첫 해외 단독 콘서트를 가졌다.[8]그는 그 장소에서 단독 콘서트를 한 최연소 한국 남성 보컬리스트였다.그 공연은 매우 높은 호응을 얻었다.

임씨는 2010년 12월 6·25전쟁 60주년 기념 콘서트 수익금을 참전용사 후손들에게 기부해 한국인 최초로, 최연소 수상자가 돼 유엔평화훈장을 받았다.[22]

임 씨는 주간경향 잡지의 최연소 편집자로 미국 잡지 포브스(한국판)의 면접위원이다.[23]2010년부터 2015년까지 동아일보에서 최연소 칼럼니스트였다.[24]또 임씨는 2005년 3월 어머니와 함께 첫 에세이 '오직 하나'를 출간해 영풍서점 베스트셀러 1위에 올랐다.[25]
