매트릭스주의 또는 '하나의 길'은 영화 3부작 '매트릭스'에서 영감을 받은 것으로 알려진 종교다.[1][2][3][4] 2004년 여름 익명의 단체에 의해 고안된 [5][6]이 단체는 2005년 5월까지 300명의 회원을 유치했다고 주장했고,[2] 이 종교의 지리학 웹사이트는 "1600명 이상의 회원"이라고 주장했다. 매트릭스주의를 추종하는 사람들이 과연 그들의 관습에 대해 진지하게 생각하는지에 대한 약간의 논쟁이 있었지만,[6][7][8] 그 종교는 언론에서 어느 정도 주목을 받았다.[9][10][11]

역사

'하나의 길'이라고도 불리는 매트릭시즘은 2004년에 주로 도입되었다. 익명의 소식통에 의해 만들어진 야후 지오시티의 웹사이트는 그 종교의 기초를 제공했다. 매트릭스주의는 매트릭스 3부작과 그 관련 이야기(The Animatrix 포함)에서 영감을 얻는다.[7] 그러나 이런 이야기들이 유일한 토대가 되는 것은 아니다. 매트릭시즘의 이상은 20세기 초 미국 서부로의 여행 중 압둘바하(Abdu'l-Baha)에 의한 대화 기록인 '세계평화의 공포'로 거슬러 올라갈 수 있다.[5][12][13] 또한 그의 책이 종교 공동체를 형성하도록 영감을 준 것도 이번이 처음은 아니다.[14]

매트릭시즘은 "매트릭시즘의 4대 신조"로 묘사되는 4가지 주요 신념을 지니고 있다. 짧게는 메시아적 예언에 대한 믿음, 성찬으로서의 환각제 사용, 다층적이고 반주체적인 현실 인식, 그리고 적어도 세계 주요 종교 중 한 종교의 원칙을 고수하는 것이었다.[8] 매트릭스주의 웹사이트는 4월 19일을 자전거의 날이라고 알려진 공휴일로 지정하여 1943년 알버트 호프만의 LSD 실험의 기념일을 기념한다.[15]

심볼로지

매트릭스주의에서 채택된 상징은 "빨간색"의 일본 간지 상징이었다. 이 기호는 비디오 게임인 Enter the Matrix에 사용되었다. 이 색은 첫 번째 매트릭스 영화에서 초기에 확립된 것처럼 진리를 받아들이는 것과 보는 능력을 나타내는 붉은 알약에 대한 언급이다.[16]
