이 종들은 이전에는 아마칠리아속에 속했습니다.2014년에 발표된 분자 계통학 연구는 Amazilia가 [2]다계통이라는 것을 밝혀냈다.단통속 창설을 위한 개정된 분류에서 이들 3종은 독일 조류학자 페르디난드 하이네에 의해 1863년 도입된 부활한 폴리에라타속으로 옮겨졌고, 이는 모식종이 [1][3][4]됐다.속명은 고대 그리스어로 "매우 사랑스럽다"[5]는 뜻의 폴루크라토스(polu theratos)에서 유래했다.
