파운드스트레처(Poundstretcher, 이전에는 £-stretcher로 불리며, 이전엔 ...instore로도 알려져 있다)는 영국에서 영업하는 할인점 체인이다. 레스터셔 주, 커비 멕슬로의 데스포드에 본사를 두고 있다.[3]

역사

Poundstretcher는 1981년에 Paul Horges와 Stephen Fearnley에 의해 설립되었다.[4] 그것은 1989년 3월에 브라운 & 잭슨 plc의 자회사가 되었는데, 원래 1923년으로 거슬러 올라갈 수 있는 건설 회사였다.

2011년 5월 이 회사는 알워스를 인수했다.[7][8] 2012년 2월 6일, 파운드스트레처는 UGO 체인으로 부터 20개의 점포를 인수했다. 2012년 9월 인수된 20개 점포 중 14개 점포는 문을 닫을 예정이고 나머지 6개 수익성이 가장 높은 점포는 그룹의 일원으로 남는다고 발표했다.[9][10][11]

파운드월드가 문을 닫은 2018년, 파운드스트레처는 이전 회사가 사용하던 바겐바이어스 브랜드 이름으로 이전 매장을 열기 시작했다. 바겐세입의 저작권은 파운드스트레처가 청구했다.[12]

소유권

Philip Harris에게 파운드스트레처를 판매한 후, Mr. Constores & Mr. Fearnley는 실패한 소매업인 United News Shops에 대한 지배권을 획득했고, 그들은 간신히 활기를 되찾았다. 이곳은 현재 영국 병원을 서비스하는 가장 큰 편의점과 카페테리아 사업이다. 2008년 3월 유나이티드 뉴스샵은 WHSmith에 매각되었다.[14]

영국 외곽

2012년 4월, 파운드스트레처는 UAE 두바이의 마디나 몰에 영국 밖에 첫 매장을 열었다.[15][16][17]

2018년 8월 채널4에서는 전 파운드월드 소유주 크리스 에드워즈의 체인 활성화 시도에 초점을 맞춘 '파운드스트레처 세이빙'을 방송했다.[18]
