라이언 타운젠드 버틀러는 미국의 정치인이자 영화제작자다.그는 미국 국영 TV에서 방영되는 동성결혼에 관한 첫 다큐멘터리를 연출했으며 노스캐롤라이나 주의 성소수자 민주당 전 대통령이며 민주당 전국위원회 위원이었다.[1]
정치 경력
버틀러는 이전에 워싱턴 D.C.[2] 듀폰 서클의 자문 이웃 위원회에서 일했었다.2006년 11월 7일 87.47%의 득표로 당선되었다.[3]그는 노스캐롤라이나의 LGBT 민주당 초대 대통령이었다.[4][5][6]2015년 4월 버틀러는 노스캐롤라이나 민주당 심의회의 의장으로 임명되었다.[7]2016년 2월 6일 그는 노스캐롤라이나 민주당 주 집행위원회에서 선출된 5명 중 한 명으로 슈퍼대의원이 됐다.이로써 LGBT DNC 소속 의원이 노스캐롤라이나 민주당에 의해 선출된 것은 처음이다.[8]
영화 및 법조계 경력
버틀러 감독의 가장 주목받는 영화 'A Union in Wait(2001)'는 선댄스 채널에서 방영돼 전 세계 20여 개 영화제에서 상영된 동성결혼에 관한 독립 다큐멘터리 영화다.[9][10]이 다큐멘터리는 미국의 TV에서 방영된 동성결혼에 관한 최초의 다큐멘터리였다.[11][12]
버틀러는 'A Union in Wait'의 발매 후 워싱턴 D.C.에서 ABC 7, 내셔널 지오그래픽 채널, CNN의 텔레비전 편집자로 일했다.2008년 그는 노스캐롤라이나로 돌아가 노스캐롤라이나 총회에서[14] 일한 뒤 개인 변호사 일을 했다.[13][15]
