SM 클래식(SM Classic)은 SM 엔터테인먼트 산하 대한민국의 클래식 음반사다.SM과 서울시립교향악단이 서명한 양해각서를 통해 2020년 6월 설립됐다.레이블은 장르를 넘어 차별화된 콘텐츠의 상호 협력과 발표를 통해 오케스트라 편곡으로 편곡된 SM의 노래를 공개한다.

역사

2020년 6월 10일, SM 엔터테인먼트와 서울 필하모닉 오케스트라는 서울 종로구 관현악단 연습실에서 양해각서(MoU)를 체결했다.[1]MoU는 장르 간 협업을 통해 문화 콘텐츠를 '확장하고 발전시키는' 데 주력할 예정이다.[2]이날 협약식에는 이성수 SM 대표이사와 강은경 서울시립교향악단 대표가 참석했다.[3]두 회사는 첫 프로젝트로 대중에게 '사랑'을 받았던 SM의 '새로운 편곡과 재생곡'을 7월 초 SM 스테이션을 통해 공개한다.[4][5]여기에 서울시립교향악단이 K-pop 음악을 발매하는 것은 이번이 처음이며 '다른 매력'[6]을 선사할 것으로 기대된다.

'선도적인' K팝 엔터테인먼트 회사와 K클래식 오케스트라가 합류한 것은 무U가 국내 최초다.[7]SM과 서울필하모닉오케스트라가 상호협력을 통해 'K팝과 K클래식의 우수성'을 세계에 알리고 장르를 넘어 차별화된 콘텐츠를 선보임으로써 한국 문화 콘텐츠 발전을 선도할 것으로 기대되는 것으로 알려졌다.[8][9][10]앞서 SM은 2016년부터 디지털 음악 오픈 채널 스테이션(Station)을 통해 다채로운 컬래버레이션으로 탄생한 장르를 폭넓게 공개해 호평을 받고 있다.[11]클래식 레이블 SM클래식(SM Classic)을 설립해 클래식 장르로 확장되는 '콘텐츠 융합 다양성'을 선보인다.[12]레드벨벳의 레드향은 오케스트라의 연주와 함께 노래와 영화음악감독 박인영의 오케스트라 편곡을 통해 편곡된 첫 곡이다.[13]
