역사

비판과 논란

2018년 5월 10일 뉴욕타임스는 Securus의 제품 중 하나를 사용하여 미국 내 거의 모든 전화기의 위치를 몇 초 안에 추적할 수 있다고 보도했다.[20] 론 와이든 상원의원(D-Oregon)이 논란이 되고 있는 감시체계에 대한 답변을 요구하는 서한을 연방통신위원회(FCC)와 통신사에 보냈다.[21] 교도소 전화 업계는 높은 수수료를 부과하고 취약한 수용자들의 이익을 챙겼다는 비판을 받아왔다.[22][8] 2019년 뉴욕시는 뉴욕시 교도소 수감자 전원에게 21분 무료전화를 보장하는 법안을 통과시켰는데, 이 법안이 통과되기 전, 시에는 500만 달러의 수익과 250만 달러의 수익을 올렸다.[23]
