역사

SCOM은 관리 팩이라는 용어를 사용하여 모니터링되는 일부 응용 프로그램에 특정한 필터링 규칙 집합을 참조한다.마이크로소프트를 비롯한 소프트웨어 벤더가 자사 제품에 대한 관리 패키지를 제공하는 반면 SCOM은 맞춤형 관리 팩을 제작할 수도 있다.에이전트 설치, 모니터링되는 시스템 구성 및 관리 팩 생성에는 관리자 역할이 필요하지만 최근 알림 목록을 단순히 볼 수 있는 권한을 유효한 사용자 계정에 부여할 수 있다.

여러 SCOM 서버를 함께 통합하여 논리적 윈도우즈 도메인 및 물리적 네트워크 경계를 가로지르는 여러 네트워크를 모니터링할 수 있다.이전 버전의 Operations Manager에서는 여러 개의 개별 관리 그룹을 중앙 위치에 연결하기 위해 웹 서비스를 사용하였다.2007년 현재, 웹 서비스는 더 이상 사용되지 않는다.오히려 직접 TCP 연결을 사용하여 이러한 통신에 포트 5723을 사용한다.

Microsoft Azure와의 통합

마이크로소프트 Cloud Infrastructure Azure에서 실행 중인 서버를 모니터링하려면 사내 SCOM 관리 서버에서 데이터를 수집하고 전송하는 로그 분석 데이터 소스를 활성화할 수 있다.[8]

2020년 11월 마이크로소프트는 자사의 Azure Environment에서 SCOM을 완전한 클라우드 관리 인스턴스로 만들겠다는 계획을 발표했는데, 코드네임은 "아킬라"[9][10]였다.

명령 셸

Operations Manager 2007 이후 이 제품에는 확장 가능한 명령줄 인터페이스인 The Command Shell이 포함되어 있으며, 이 인터페이스는 Operations Manager 데이터 및 작업에 대한 대화형 및 스크립트 기반 액세스를 제공하는 윈도우즈 PowerShell의 사용자 지정 인스턴스다.[11][12]

관리 팩

SCOM은 SCOM이 시스템을 모니터링하는 방법을 정의하는 관리 팩(MP)을 가져와 확장할 수 있다.기본적으로 SCOM은 기본 OS 관련 서비스만 모니터링하지만 새로운 MP를 가져와 SQL 서버, 쉐어포인트, Apache, Tomcat, VMware, SUSE Linux 등의 서비스를 모니터링할 수 있다.

많은 마이크로소프트 제품들은 그들과 함께 출시되는 MP를 가지고 있고, 마이크로소프트가 아닌 많은 소프트웨어 회사들도 그들의 제품을 위해 MP를 쓴다.

현재 사용 가능한 MP를 사용하여 상당한 양의 IT 인프라를 모니터링하지만 최종 사용자가 아직 다루지 않은 것을 모니터링하기 위해 새로운 MP를 생성할 수 있다.[13]
