배경
2019년 3월[update] 현재 살렘 벤타히아가 위원장을 맡고 있는 리비아 중앙 지방의회 선거위원회는 [2]2013년에 설립된 120개 지방의회 선거를 책임지고 있다.
선거
2014년 지방 선거는 6,500,000 리비아 디나르 비용을 들여 실시되었으며 일반적으로 [1]민주적인 것으로 인식되었다.2014년 총선에 따른 평의회는 2018년 현재[update] 리비아 국민들에 의해 리비아에서 [1]"가장 신뢰할 수 있고 합법적으로 선출된 기관"으로 간주되었다.
2016년 시장 선출직 해임
2016년 말, 리비아 국민군의 압둘 라자크 알 나즈후리 소장은 동부 리비아에서 선출된 몇몇 시장들을 대부분 [1][3]군인으로 선출되지 않은 사람들로 교체했다.모두 합쳐서 LNA는 통제 구역의 27개 중 9개의 선출된 평의회를 군 [4]행정관으로 교체했다.
2018년 지연 선거
자위야, 바니 왈리드, 디르즈에서는 2014년에 치러져야 할 지방선거가 2018년에 치러졌다.2014년 바니 왈리드 선거는 안보상의 이유로 실패했다.[1][5]
