Booty 대 Barnaby는 1687년 영국 법원 사건의 이름인데, Booty 부인이 이웃인 Barnaby 대위를 비방하는 이유로 소송을 제기했는데, Barnaby 대위는 죽은 남편이 지옥으로 몰리는 것을 보았다고 주장했다.

1687년 5월 12일, 갠드워스의 상인 미스터 볼과 함께 바르나비, 브리스토우, 브루어 선장은 스핑크스에 ^{[Notes 1]}탑승한 스트롬볼리로 촬영을 하러 갔다. 이후 15일 떠날 채비를 하던 중 두 사람이 달려가는 것을 보고 바르나비 대위는 "주님, 축복해 주시옵소서!"라고 외쳤다. 그는 회색 옷을 입고 천 단추가 달린 옷을 입고 있었고, 그를 쫓던 남자는 검은 옷을 입고 있었다. 그들 둘 다 화산의 입구로 달려들자 순간 커다란 소리가 들려왔다. Barnaby 대위는 "나는 의심하지 않지만, 지옥으로 달려가는 것은 늙은 Booty이다."라고 말했다.
