카코데몬(cacodemon) 또는 카코데몬(cacodaemon)은 악령 또는 악마입니다. 카코데몬의 반대말은 아가토다에몬이나 에우다에몬, 선한 영혼이나 천사입니다. 카코데몬(cacodemon)이라는 단어는 고대 그리스 κ ακοδαίμων 카코다이몬(kakodaimon)에서 라틴어를 통해 왔는데, 이는 "악령"을 의미하는 반면 다이몬은 그리스어로 중립적인 영혼을 의미합니다. 형상 이동이 가능한 것으로 여겨집니다.[1] 카코데몬도 악의적인 사람이라고 합니다.
심리학에서 카코데모니아(cacodemonia, 또는 cacodemonia)는 환자가 자신이 악령에 사로잡혔다고 믿는 정신 이상의 한 형태입니다. 카코데몬이라는 단어가 처음 알려진 것은 1593년으로 거슬러 올라갑니다.
윌리엄 셰익스피어의 리차드 3세 1막 3장에서, 마거릿 여왕은 리차드의 반칙 행위와 조작에 대해 "카코데몬"이라고 부릅니다.[2] 존 플레처의 '몰타의 기사'에서 노란딘은 마지막 장면에서 극의 악역인 마운트페럿을 '카코데몬'이라고 부릅니다.[3]
점성술에서 12번째 집은 악과의 연관성 때문에 한때 카코데몬이라고 불렸습니다.[4][5] 제인 데이비슨(Jane Davidson)은 "소음을 내는 악마"로 정의되며, 1696년 후반에 울리스 알드로반디(Ulisse Aldrovandi)의 몬스터 히스토리아(Story of Monstum Historia)의 판본에서 카코데몬의 예시를 언급했습니다.[6]
