GAAD(Global Accessibility Awareness Day)는 장애 또는 장애를 가지고 살아가는 오늘날 살아있는 10억 명 이상의 사람들을 위한 디지털 접근 및 포용에 초점을 맞춘 인식의 날입니다.[1]매년 5월 셋째 주 목요일에 기념됩니다.[2]

2018년에는 GAAD를 기념하는 다수의 가상 이벤트 외에도 6개 대륙의 최소 19개 국가에서 일반에 공개되는 이벤트가 있었습니다.[3]

글로벌 접근성 인식의 날 웹사이트에 따르면, "GAAD의 목적은 모든 사람들이 디지털 (웹, 소프트웨어, 모바일 등) 접근 또는 포함에 대해 이야기하고, 생각하고, 배우도록 하는 것이며, 다양한 장애를 가진 사람들입니다."[4]지역 글로벌 접근성 인식의 날 행사는 때때로 장애인들이 보조 기술을 사용하여 웹 및 디지털 제품을 어떻게 사용하는지를 보여주거나 특정 장애인들의 요구를 고려하여 기술 제품을 만드는 사람들을 돕습니다.[3]

2012년 5월 글로벌 접근성 인식의 날 시작2011년 11월 로스앤젤레스에 기반을 둔 웹 개발자 조 데본이 블로그에 올린 글에서[5][6] 영감을 얻었습니다.데본은 토론토 출신의 접근성 전문가인 제니슨 아순시온과 함께 GAAD를 공동 설립했습니다.
