역사
이 저널은 2006년 국제고형물학회(IJ) 편집위원 23명 중 21명이 엘르비에의 '제한된 제도적 자원 중 이익 증대에 대한 압박'에 반발해 사임한 뒤 설립됐다.[1][2] 새 저널의 편집자들은 창간호에서 "페이지 수보다 빠르게 증가하지 않고 구독자 기반이 확장될수록 실제로 하락할 수 있는 낮은 구독료"[3]를 포함한 여러 가지 출판 욕구를 나타냈다.

저널은 Current Contents/Engineering, Computing & Technology,[4] Ei Compendex,[5][4] Scopus에서 추상화 및 색인화된다.[6] Journal Incorporation Reports에 따르면, 저널은 2020년 영향인자가 0.987이다.[7]
