플라스틴은 진핵생물 진화 내내 보존되고 고등 진핵생물의 대부분의 조직에서 발현되는 액틴 결합 단백질의 한 종류이다.사람에서는 두 가지 유비쿼터스 플라스틴 동질체(L 및 T)가 확인되었다.플라스틴 1(또는 핌브린)은 소장에서 특히 높은 수치로 발현되는 세 번째 별개의 플라스틴 이소 형태이다.L 동질세포는 조혈세포 계통에서만 발현되며, T 동질세포는 복제전위를 가진 고형조직의 다른 모든 정상세포(섬유아세포, 내피세포, 상피세포, 멜라노사이트 등)에서 발견되었다.그러나 L-플라스틴은 비혈구기원의 많은 종류의 악성 인간 세포에서 발견되었으며, 이는 [6]L-플라스틴의 발현이 고형 조직에서 종양 발생과 함께 유발됨을 시사한다.
