피그미상어의 범위(파란색)

왜등상어 다음으로 작은 상어류인 피그미상어(Uprotomicrus bispinatus)는 달라티과(Dalatiae)의 정사각형 상어로, 유프로토미크루스과의 유일한 일원이다.[2] 그들의 길이는 암컷은 약 25cm (10인치), 수컷은 약 22cm (8.7인치)이다.[3]

피그미상어는 난태생물로 각 배지에서 약 8마리의 새끼를 낳는다.[4]

보존상태

2018년 6월 뉴질랜드 환경보호부는 뉴질랜드 위협분류체계(Secure Outlook)에 따라 피그미상어를 '위협되지 않음'이라는 한정자로 분류했다.[5]
