유디(YoUDee)는 베이비 블루와 함께 델라웨어 대학의 마스코트다. 의인화된 "파란 암탉과 싸우는 것"이며, 델라웨어 주의 새로서 그 종은 푸른 암탉이다. YoUDee는 남성적으로 보이거나 남성 또는 여성 연기자를 가질 수 있지만,[1][2] "공식적으로 남성 또는 여성 연기자를 둘 다"라고 말한다.[3][4]

델라웨어 대학에 따르면, YoUDIE의 색상은 미국 독립전쟁에서 트렌턴 전투 중 증조부가 발레에게 금메달을 수여했기 때문에 파란색과 금색이다. 조나단 콜드웰 대위가 지휘하는 사내들은 실제로 여가에 닭싸움을 벌이기 위해 블루 헨스를 데리고 전투에 임했다. 대장 밑에 있는 사람들이라고 한다. Caldwell은 그들이 싸우는 푸른 암탉에 필적할 만한 전투에서 용감했다.[5]

역사

1911년 델라웨어 대학교는 블루 암탉을 공식 마스코트로 채택했다.[6]

1930년대에 최초의 물리적 마스코트는 치어리더 팀의 구성원들이 애지중지하는 살아있는 파란색 치킨이었다.[6][7][8] '혁명시대 푸른 암탉과 싸우는 푸른 암탉'의 진정한 후손이 없는 것으로 알려져 있어 파란 암탉인지, 파란 깃털을 가진 닭이었는지는 불분명하다."[9]

다나 데이비스는 2013년 마스코트 북스가 출간해 출간한 '안녕, 요우디!'라는 제목의 아동 도서를 만들었다.[34][35] '빅게임 스타디움'에 가기 전 델라웨어 대학 캠퍼스 주변 유디를 따라간다.[36] 라이선스 북은 남성 대명사를 가진 유디를 지칭하는 반면, 유디는 2004년부터'남성이나여성 모두'로 활동해왔다.[4]

수상 및 인정

2006년 8월 16일, 유디는 필라델피아 러브파크에서 열린 시상식에서 NCAA 마스코트 명예의 전당에 헌액되었다.[16][30] 이것은 대체로 "요.UDee의 팬 리더십."[29]

2002년 유디는 UCA 전국 마스코트 챔피언십 전체에서 1위를 차지했다. 2002년 이후 어느 시점에서는, 마스코트 대회가 디비전 I 축구팀이 있는 대학 소속 마스코트를 위한 디비전 I과 다른 모든 마스코트를 위한 오픈 마스코트로 나뉘게 될 것이다. 후반부에서는 유디가 출전할 것이다.[45]
