BL Herculis variable

BL 허큘리스 변수는 발광도와 질량이 낮은 타입 II 세페이드의 하위 등급으로, 기간은 8일 미만이다.[1][2] 그들은 가장 짧은 기간의 별들은 내리막 쪽에, 긴 기간의 별들은 오름 쪽에 종종 혹을 보이는 가벼운 곡선으로 제2종 세페이드의 하위 클래스를 이루고 있다.[2] 다른 타입 II 세페이드와 마찬가지로, 그것들은 은하의 후광과 구상 성단에서 발견되는 매우 오래된 모집단 II 별이다.[3] 또한 다른 타입 II 세페이드에 비해 BL Her 변수는 기간이 짧고 W Virginis 변수에 비해 희미하다. 맥동성 항성은 밝기가 달라 스펙트럼 등급에 따라 다양하며 BL 허큘리스 변수는 일반적으로 가장 밝을 때는 A 등급, 가장 어두울 때는 F 등급이다.[4] Hertzsprung-Russell 다이어그램에 표시될 때 그들은 W Virginis와 RR Lyrae 변수 사이에 위치한다.[3]

프로토타입 별인 BL 허큘리스(BL Herculis)는 1.3일 동안 진도 9.7과 10.6 사이에서 변화한다. The brightest BL Herculis variables are: VY Pyxidis (7.7 mag max), V553 Centauri (8.2), SW Tauri (9.3), RT Trianguli Australis (9.4), V351 Cephei (9.5), BL Herculis (9.7), BD Cassiopeiae (10.8), and UY Eridani (10.9).[4]
