SX Phoenicis variable

SX 페니키시스 변수는 변광성의 일종이다. 이 별들은 0.03–0.08일(0.7–1.9시간)의 시간 척도에 따라 변하는 짧은 기간 맥동 동작을 보인다. A2-F5 범위의 스펙트럼 분류가 있으며 최대 0.7까지 크기가 다양하다.[1] 태양에 비해 이 별들은 낮은 야금성을 가지고 있어 수소와 헬륨 이외의 원소가 풍부하지 않다는 것을 의미한다. 그들은 또한 별의 분류에 있어서 상대적으로 높은 우주 속도와 낮은 광도를 가지고 있다.[2][3] 이 특성들은 SX 페니키스 변수와 그들의 사촌인 델타 스쿠티 변수를 구별한다. 후자는 기간이 길고, 강한 야금성과 큰 진폭을 가지고 있다.[4]

SX 페니키스 변수는 주로 구상 성단과 은하 할로에서 발견된다. 변동성 주기는 주기-진도 관계를 가진다.[5] 구상 성단의 알려진 SX 페니키시스 변수는 모두 청색 스트래글러 별이다.[6] 같은 성단의 주계열성보다 더 파란색으로 나타나는 별들(온도가 더 높은 별들)[7]이다.
