클래식 오토미

Classical Otomi

고전적인 오토미는 멕시코에서 스페인 식민지 지배의 초기 세기 동안 사용되었던 오토미 언어에 사용된 이름으로, 오토미 민족을 교화시키기 위해 이 언어를 배운 스페인 수도사들이 기록하였다. 식민지 시대에 많은 오토미스는 로마자로 그들의 언어를 쓰는 것을 배웠다. 그 결과, 세속적이면서도 종교적인 오토미에는 상당수의 문서가 그 시대부터 존재하며, 가장 잘 알려진 문서는 후이차판과 질로테펙의 고문서들이다.[1] 스페인어를 구사하는 frior들이 오토미어의 다양한 모음과 자음 소리를 구분하지 못했기 때문에 고전적인 오토미어의 텍스트는 쉽게 접근할 수 없다.[2]

Friars는 몇 개의 문법을 썼는데, 가장 초창기 문서화된 것은 1580년(그러나 1907년까지는 출판되지 않음) 페드로 데 카세레스의 아르테 데 라 렌구아 오토미[sic]이다.[3][4] 1605년 알론소 데 우르바노는 3개 국어로 된 스페인어-나후아틀-오토미 사전을 썼는데, 이 사전에는 오토미에 관한 작은 문법 노트 세트도 포함되어 있었다. 호라시오 카로치의 나후아틀의 문법학자 호라시오 카로치는 오토미의 문법을 쓴 것으로 알려져 있지만 안타깝게도 사본은 남아 있지 않다. 18세기 후반에는 익명의 예수회 성직자가 문법 루체 델 오토미(Luces del Otomi)를 썼고, 네베 이 몰리나는 사전과 문법을 썼다.[5]
