The Ortigas Interchange, also known as the EDSA–Ortigas Interchange or the Ortigas Flyover, is a three-level partial stack interchange at the boundary between Mandaluyong and Quezon City in Metro Manila, the Philippines which serves as the junction between Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) and Ortigas Avenue. 원래 4자 교차로였던 현재의 교류는 1991년 코라존 아키노 대통령의 대표적인 인프라 사업으로 건설되었다.[1]

역사

오르티가스 인터체인지 건설의 일차적인 원동력은 이미 극심한 교통혼잡을 겪고 있는 도로와 함께 EDSA(Epifanio de los Santos Avenue)를 따라 이동시간을 개선할 필요가 있다는 것이었다. 1991년 1월 11일, 코라존 아키노 대통령은 두 개의 다른 주요 도로 사업과 함께 인터체인지 건설을 승인했다. 그러나 EDSA의 교통 문제 해결의 긴급한 필요성은 이 프로젝트의 신속한 추진을 가능하게 했다.[2]

4억 달러 규모의 인터체인지 건설은 1991년 4월 1일에 시작되었으며,[3] 공사는 F와 계약되었다. 필리핀 최대 건설사 중 하나인 F.크루즈앤코(F. Cruz and Co)는 공공사업 및 고속도로 부서의 감독하에 있다.[4] 인터체인지의 북행 차선은 1991년 12월 23일에 개통되었다.[3]

1993년과 1998년 사이에 오르티가스 인터체인지의 정비는 마닐라 자이스가 담당했는데, 이 단체가 메트로폴리탄 마닐라 당국과 체결한 협약에 따라 이루어졌다.[5]

2001년 EDSA 혁명 당시 오르티가스 인터체인지와 EDSA 신사 주변에는 군중들이 모여 조셉 에스트라다 대통령의 퇴진을 요구했다.

비판

EDSA의 오르티가스 지역의 교통 체증을 완화하기 위한 의도였지만 오르티가스 인터체인지는 실제로 교통 체증을 악화시킨다는 비판을 받아왔다. 인터체인지의 등급별 서비스 도로는 남행 서비스 도로의 포장 품질이 너무 나빠 서비스 도로를 이용하는 버스가 매우 느리게 운행해 교통이 더 느려진다는 지적을 받아왔다.[6]
