2010년 5월 24일, 그레이터 베이 항공은 동태평양(Holdings) Ltd.(동해항공)의 자회사로 설립되었습니다.2019년 1월 17일 동하이 항공(홍콩), 2019년 12월 5일 홍콩 바우히니아 항공, 2020년 7월 8일 그레이터베이 항공으로 사명을 변경했습니다.[8][9][10][6]

인증 과정에서 경쟁사인 캐세이 퍼시픽, HK 익스프레스, 홍콩 항공사들이 제기한 우려로 인해 항공사는 지연에 직면했습니다.[11]그러나 2021년 2월까지 이러한 우려는 해소되었고 항공사들은 그레이터베이 항공의 신청에 이의를 제기하는 대신 입장문을 제출했습니다.[12]

코로나19 여행 제한으로 인해 그레이터베이 항공은 처음에는 화물 서비스에[13] 집중했습니다.[11][14] 2021년 9월 그레이터베이 항공은 첫 항공기인 전 노르웨이 에어 인터내셔널 2017년형 보잉 737-800을 ICBC 파이낸셜 리스 회사로부터 임대받았습니다.2021년 10월 항공운항사 자격증을 취득하고 같은 해 11월부터 전세기 운항을 시작했습니다.첫 전세기는 2021년 11월 29일에 홍콩에서 방콕까지 당일 왕복 운항했습니다.[15][16]

2022년 6월 26일, 홍콩 정부의 새로운 행정부에서 상무 및 경제 개발국의 비서를 맡은 그레이터베이 항공의 설립 CEO 알제논 야우가 사임함에 따라 그레이터베이 항공의 회장 빌 웡은 이사진 스탠리 후이를 새로운 행정장관으로 임명했습니다.[19][20]
