1947년 8월 15일 독립과 인도의 분할 이후, 인도 해군의 배와 인원은 인도령과 파키스탄령으로 나뉘었다.함대의 3분의 2는 인도로, 3분의 1은 파키스탄으로 [3]나눠졌다.
