13구역미국 워싱턴 주 시애틀의 헨리 M. 잭슨 연방 빌딩에 근거지를 둔 미국 해안 경비 구역이다. 태평양 북서부를 커버하며 책임 영역은 워싱턴, 오리건, 아이다호, 몬태나의 4개 주를 아우른다. 13구역은 푸젯 사운드, 컬럼비아 강, 노스 벤드의 3개 구역으로 나뉜다. 구는 3,000명 이상의 현역과 예비역, 민간 직원, 보조원을 두고 21척, 132척, 항공기 11대를 운영하고 있다.[1]

명령과 의무

13구역의 자산은 수색구조, 안전·어업규제 강화를 위한 연안순찰, 안전·준수 검사, 상선·수변시설 점검, 전략방어·중요기반시설 보호 등 일차적인 업무를 수행한다. 구는 또한 미국 최대의 국내 여객선 시스템을 비롯해 국내 3위의 항만, 국내 3위의 크루즈선 항구, 국내 최대 곡물 수출 관문도 갖추고 있다.[1][2] 13구역은 또한 고내구성 커터 2개, 중내구성 커터 3개, 쇄빙선 2개, 항만 경비대 1개, 해상 안전 보안팀, 기지 시애틀 등 다양한 해안 경비대 자산에 지원과 항구를 제공한다.[1]

13호기는 국내 최대 규모의 레크리에이션 교통량을 다룰 뿐만 아니라, 미국 트라이던트 탄도 미사일 잠수함을 본항으로 호송하는 임무를 맡고 있는 해양군 보호부대 2곳 중 1곳이다. 워싱턴 일와코 해안경비대 케이프 실망(Cape Repause) 인근 국립모터라이프보트학교의 본거지이기도 하다. 컬럼비아 강을 가로지르는 어드밴스트 헬리콥터 구조학교는 오리건 주 아스토리아의 텅 포인트와 공군기지에서 극단적인 구조 시나리오를 가르치고 있다.[citation needed]
