TPTE는 이노시톨 인지질의 ^[4]3위 인산염에 대한 기질특이성을 갖는 다종 막 관련 포스파타아제들의 구성원이다.TPTE는 TPTE2(TPIP) 이노시톨 인지질 포스파타아제의 ^[5]영장류 특이적 복제물이다. TPTE 자체는 포스파타아제 ^[6]활성이 결여될 것으로 예상된다.TPTE 및 TPTE2는 전압에 민감한 포스파타아제 하위군에 대한 포유류의 상동체이다.
