다음은 시리아 하마시의 역사 연표다.

7세기 이전

기원전 11세기 – 도시는 "아람 왕국의 수도 하맛"^[1]이다.
기원전 854년 – 아시리아 샬마네세르 2세가 점령한 마을.^[2]
기원전 743년 – 아시리아인들이 다시 권력을 잡았다.^[3]
기원전 740년 – 봉기.^[3]
기원전 720년 – 봉기 "사곤에 의해 파괴됨"^[2]
기원전 540년 – 집권한 페르시아인(대략적인 날짜)
기원전 64년 – 도시는 로마의 시리아 지방에 속하게 된다.

7~19세기

639 CE – 아랍 이슬람교도 아부 우바이다 이븐 알자라(Abu Ubaidah Ibn al-Jarrah)가 점령한 마을.^[2]
637 – 그레이트 모스크(Great Mosque)가 건설됨.^[4]
10세기 – 권력을 쥔 함다니드.
968 – 비잔틴 군대가 니즈포루스 포카스를 축출한 마을.^[1]
11세기 – 미르다시드 세력에 의해 약탈당한 마을.
1108년 – 탠크레드, 갈릴리 왕자가 이 도시에 도착한다.^[2]
1114 – 셀주크(Seljuks)가 권력을 쥐고 있다.^[1]

1229년 – 알 무자파르 2세 마흐무드는 하마 에미르가 된다.
1244 – 알 만수르 무함마드 2세가 하마 에미르가 되다.
1260 – 몽고인들이 약탈한 마을.
1284년 – 알 무자파르 3세 마흐무드는 하마 에미르가 된다.

1310 – Ayyubid Abu al-Fida는 하마 에미르가 된다.^[5]

1331 – 알-아프달 무함마드는 하마 에미르가 된다.
1400 – Timurlane이 마을을 장악한다.

1516 – 오스만 투르크의 집권.
1556 – 칸 러스툼 파샤(캐러밴서리)가 건설했다.^{[citation needed]}
